New Year Special

Tis’ the season to sew, sew, sew!

Happy December to you! As expected I am overjoyed (and a wee bit overwhelmed) with the influx of holiday orders that have been received to date. This year officially marks the busiest holiday season I have ever had in my 11 years of handmade entrepreneurship with more than 115 outstanding orders and counting! Realistically I shouldn’t even be taking time to send this post…but, I continue to receive dozens of inquiries each day as to whether or not I am still accepting holiday orders and I wanted to address that with a group post.

Sadly, there really is no way I can add anymore custom bag orders to the schedule and still meet my existing commitments; but, I do have a two bits of good news and that is why I am writing to you today!

  1. I can still accommodate a few dozen more camera strap cover orders as these are smaller less time-consuming projects for which I have the materials on hand. So feel free to place those orders and know I do expect they will arrive in time for Christmas gifting and Stocking Stuffing! Just be sure to specify your fabric preference and monogram details in the notes field so I can process the order without delay. To avoid confusion the monogram should be listed  first, last and middle initial (as the last initial is featured in the center of the monogram).
  2. If you are interested in ordering a custom camera bag and able to wait until December 31st to receive your new bag I do have a limited time special offer whereby you will receive free shipping in the USA and I will include a coordinating complimentary camera strap cover with your order. This really is a great deal and I promise the bag will be worth the wait!

To take advantage of my limited time New Year Special, simply add the Camera Bag that suits your needs best to your shopping cart and use coupon code NEWYEARSEVE to receive Free Shipping in the USA and a BONUS complimentary coordinating camera strap cover with your order.

Your custom camera bag can be crafted from any cotton fabric offered at Hawthorne Threads or any of the Premier Prints . If you’d like either piece monogrammed, there is no additional charge, simply specify your first, last and middle initials (in that exact order) in the note to seller field. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an Etsy convo and I will get back to you asap or email me at watermelonwishes@me.com

Many thanks for your continued support and enthusiasm for my handmade business. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Now, I really must get back to the sewing machine…

Lots of love,

Andrea

P.S. The Medium Camera Bag, shown below, is my best seller and will hold any combination of equipment that measures 8″ or less.

Top Handmade Holiday Gift Picks by Watermelon Wishes

Sharing our family traditions and the joy of gifting in 2016

Hip, hip, hooray! It is November. A month that is filled with all of my favorite things: food, family and festivity. This year I will be hosting Thanksgiving Dinner for 8 and cooking for twice that many to ensure we have plenty of leftovers! The day after, we’ll venture out into the woods for our annual holiday family photo shoot, then we’ll busy ourselves decorating the Christmas tree and hanging the lights.

The Chapman Family 2015

The Chapman Family 2015

For the last couple of years, we have chosen a theme for our Christmas celebration. Last year we had “A Tiny Christmas” which encompassed a 4 foot tree with teeny little glittery wrapped presents underneath. This years theme is “Joy” and all we shall partake will be centered upon that which brings us joy. Creating in and of itself is joyous, so we are planning several family gift making nights during which we will be creating hand poured hazelnut latte scented soy candles, sewing cloth napkins, baking peppermint cookies and monogramming vintage flannel shirts that have been soaked in an amazing lavender rinse.

And, of course, my heart will be overflowing with joy as I fulfill your holiday orders which I know are for special friends and family. This really is such a wonderful line of work and I want you to know that I put forth a great deal of effort to ensure your special purchases are crafted with the utmost care and arrive in plenty of time for your holiday celebrations. That being said, I encourage you to place your orders by November 24th and sooner if at all possible. Before my next blog post my holiday production schedule will be full and I will be focusing all of my attention on fulfilling existing orders, so please don’t wait too long. I want everyone to get exactly what they want for Christmas! Here are my top five favorites picks for your consideration:

Watermelon Wishes Studio Tour

Studio Tour

Hey y’all! I am so happy to be here today and really excited to show you the new studio. Our transition from a retail shop into our now private studio setting took place gradually over a period of four weeks. It was really important to me that this major change be orchestrated with ease and grace. As a direct result of my intention, I can look back and say I never felt rushed or pressured in any fashion and I have absolutely no regrets.

Timeline wise, we moved out of the Middleburg location the third week of July, stored the contents in our garage for a week, and then moved into the new space this past weekend which was the fourth weekend of July. I said a proper goodbye to old space and a proper hello to the new space. Interestingly enough, it was really liberating to lock the door on the retail studio for the last time. I felt a wave of freedom rush over me and I knew I had made the right decision. A big thank you to my husband and children for showing up twice to move me and for allowing me this extra space and time to process the transition. It was well worth the additional effort and I think they will all agree everything went off without a single hitch.

The new space, which we have affectionately dubbed my “World Headquarters”  is even better than I had imagined. It is so quiet and peaceful and I can hardly wait to get settled in my new routine. It was really important to me that the studio be functional, look beautiful and feel inviting. I spent a great deal of time visualizing the various aspects before we moved in and knew there would be areas dedicated to planning and blogging, sewing, storage and supplies. This particular office has several unique features which I especially adore including two built in oversized bulletin boards (which I have fabulously styled) and sleeping loft (which we are in the process of converting into a fabric loft).

I am so thrilled with how everything came together and I hope you will have a look around and let me know what you think! As always, I thank you for your continued interest in my work and appreciation your support and enthusiasm throughout the years. The best, as they say, is yet to come!

Lots of love,

Andrea
